An announcement from the Bar Association about the barrier with nails

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) today (Jan. 24) drew the attention of the public to the dangers posed to the public by the use of spikes at roadblocks around Colombo, which could cause serious injuries to the public.

The Bar Association reiterates to the government that the IGP, the police and the armed forces must act in any situation to ensure the safety of protesters and the public, as well as the right to peaceful protest and the right of citizens to travel freely.

A statement issued by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka stated that if for any reason a violent situation arises, it could lead to severe consequences for the country.
